I can hear them coming. They bark at the door and they're going to break in. I've temporarily barricaded the door but they're getting smart. Elaborate. They're going for the windows. There isn't much in this log cabin, there's firewood and a couple of ignorable pieces of furnature, but the one thing that piqued my interest was the door. I take off my coat, putting it on the coatrack next to the door, and pull out my lantern. There was a door on the other side of the room in the right-most corner, a door that seemed out of place. I approach the door, hearing the sounds of barking behind me as the hounds start to break in. I wrangle the door, wishing it to open, but suddenly I hear the crash of the windows. One has gotten in... but then I fall in. The door collapses in onto itself, and I am left to back away from impending death.
As I turn around, however, the door isn't in view anymore. There is no door, the door was completely gone with only wall to keep me solace. Behind me, I could feel my head bump into something, a staircase that led to a room that I swear I had not seen prior. I have nowhere else to go, so I ascend the stairs.
The room atop the stairs was one that only seemed to fit a tinkerer. The center of the room was cleared, but all sides fit the area of someone who would be hunched over and working endlessly. Immediately on walking in, the stairs were on the right side of the wall, ending with a bed directly in front with a single pillow and blanket. The blanket was needlessly thick, though considering this cabin were placed in one of the snowiest and coldest places habitable on Earth, it made a good bit of sense. There was one window, on the wall in front, triangular and displaying heavy snowfall. There were tables on the other sides as well, all equipped with desk lamps and scattered with old papers and laser-cut wood pieces. Looked like a scattered 3d puzzle, all being solved in different areas.
The weirdest thing was the time, which I only noticed when I looked behind me above the door. 4:04. A time which unsettled me deeply. I stood in the center of the room, all before something would happen. The outside went dark, and all the lights went out. There was one more light though, one above me. I looked up, and I saw him. A large, humanoid creature with angular features and a deep gaze. It's pupils were dilated to the point of nearly filling it's eyes, if it weren't for the soft blue glow of the edges of the eyes where the whites would be. Its mouth would have a shark-like appearance, and a drop of its saliva would fall onto my shoulder. It was massive, and hungry.
